Merck Research Laboratories is a true scientific research facility of tomorrow, and will take Merck's leading discovery capabilities and world-class small molecule and biologics R&D expertise to create breakthrough science that radically changes the way we approach serious diseases.    At Merck, the Biologics Upstream Process Development group within the Biologics Process R&D Department is responsible for developing upstream processes and chemically defined media for both early and late stage biologics, as well as implementing these processes for clinical manufacture.  Our department is seeking a highly motivated scientist to support the development of high-yield and robust cell culture processes and media to be utilized for the production of biopharmaceuticals. The successful applicant will play an active role in developing upstream production processes, and transferring these processes for clinical manufacturing.  He/She will be utilizing fundamental science (systems biology) and engineering, advanced mathematical, computational modeling and machine learning algorithms to optimize bioprocesses and ensure consistent productivity, process robustness and product quality for biologics production.  The candidate will also be involved in developing new technologies in a team environment. Qualifications Education Minimum Requirement: Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biochemistry or similar with a statistical or computational emphasis.     Required Experience and Skills: o Hands-on experience with operations of microbioreactors, bench-scale and/or large scale bioreactors. o Demonstrated experience in handling and integrating multiple data platforms (i.e. genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomics, fluxomic, phenomic) to develop computational models for mammalian systems. o Experience with statistical methods and computer programming and packages (SIMCA, R, Python, MatLab, Pipeline pilot) Preferred Experience and Skills: o Experience with chemically-defined medium development and cell culture process development. o In-depth knowledge of metabolic pathways, intracellular trafficking and secretory pathways for mammalian systems, and modern pathway analytical packages (IPA, Omicsoft), and visualization tools (Spotfire).   Your role at Merck is integral to helping the world meet new breakthroughs that affect generations to come, and we're counting on your skills and inventiveness to help make meaningful contributions to global medical advancement. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
