Associate Director, Financial Evaluation & Analysis

Merck's success is backed by ethical integrity, forward momentum, and an inspiring mission to achieve new milestones in global healthcare.  This role supports corporate and regional business development initiatives, providing financial business valuations and analytical support for proposed acquisitions, divestitures, licensing arrangements, and other potential strategic investment opportunities.The role requires a fundamental understanding of financial business valuation principles, and a working knowledge of valuation tools and techniques, as well as a general understanding of basic accounting principles. Receives project assignments and guidance on objectives from the Directors in FE&A. Analyze and evaluate proposed acquisitions, divestitures, licensing, co-promotion arrangements, and other potential strategic investments: Gather data, develop models, and analyze financial results. Work with marketing, manufacturing and research to understand business value drivers & inputs, as well as interface with project leaders from across the company. Critically assess the economic & financial impacts of various scenarios and deal structures. Analyze complex business situations and transaction structures and identify related risks and opportunities.  Support Directors in their role as financial advisor on project teams assigned to analyze, negotiate, and structure external growth opportunities. Develop materials to communicate results to financial and non-financial management. Investigate potential new financial analysis techniques to determine whether currently used valuation methods can be enhanced or new approaches utilized. Qualifications Education Minimum Requirement: BS/BA required, preferably in Accounting, Finance or Economics Required Experience and Skills: A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in a business finance role, preferably a role that involves business & financial analysis. Basic knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles is also required, as they relate to financialvaluation and reporting practices.  A demonstrated proficiency and minimum of 3 years expertise with financial modeling and modeling techniques in an Excel-based environment and a basic knowledge of applicable financial analysis tools & techniques. Highly motivated; analytical problem solving with an ability to communicate clearly and simply (both written and oral); collaborative; strong customer focus/orientation; . Ability to work on multiple tasks under tight deadlines, effectively prioritize workload and complete tasks promptly and accurately.  Preferred Experience and Skills: CPA, CFA or MBA in Finance preferred. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
