The Director, Mass Spectrometry (MS) Lead is responsible for providing strategic and technical leadership for mass spectrometry capabilities across our organization's network. This includes MS capabilities for drug discovery and process development across small molecule, biologics¬  and vaccines as well as implementation of new technologies and platforms to benefit partners across Discovery Chemistry, Process Development and Pre-Clinical Development.



The Director reports to the Executive Director, Analytical Enabling Technologies and will be directly responsible for a team of 15-20 senior and associate level scientists. The position is accountable for delivering MS methodologies and platforms to enable advanced structure elucidation for molecules from discovery through development and commercial launch. The incumbent must have the ability to set strategy and enhance implementation of MS methodologies across our organization's network.



The incumbent will be responsible for the recruiting, appraisal and development of personnel under his/her supervision. The Director selects, trains, and effectively recommends transfers, merit increases, promotions, and closures of personnel under his/her direction within the framework of Company policy.¬  The role will also be responsible for proactive resourcing planning, risk assessment strategies and budget management as necessary.




Maintaining a strong external network across the academic community is expected, as well as advancing an internal culture of scientific excellence and collaboration and this will be a core responsibility for the Mass Spectrometry Lead.




Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:



Ph.D. in analytical chemistry or related field¬  with a minimum of 4 years of experience or M.S. with a minimum of 8 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry¬
